Ketamine infusion therapy is an innovative treatment that is safe and effective and supported with substantial scientific evidence. Many patients who come to Avance Psychiatry have tried other treatments with minimal success and are looking for something more revolutionary than the standard protocol.

If you or someone you love is suffering from one of these treatment-resistant mental illnesses, we encourage you to reach out to Avance Psychiatry to schedule an initial ketamine evaluation. Please call 919.748.4878 to make an appointment with us.

Ketamine Infusion Process

Our experienced psychiatrists and team will evaluate you as a candidate for ketamine by completing a whole person assessment in order to determine your best treatment path forward.

Assessment: At Avance Psychiatry, we consult with patients who have been referred by their healthcare provider or reach out directly. We provide a comprehensive evaluation to determine whether ketamine infusion therapy is the right next step in their care

Establishing care: For those who wish to move forward with ketamine treatment, Avance Psychiatry administers an initial treatment of four ketamine infusions over two to three weeks based on guidelines from the American Psychiatric Association.

Learning and growth: For the 85% of our patients who experience relief from their depression, we monitor outcomes closely to determine when they should come back for booster infusions as depressive symptoms recur, generally between 2 – 10 weeks.

Maintenance: We work closely with each patient’s care team to establish a personalized, long term care plan to ensure wellness over time.

Avance Psychiatry offers ketamine infusion therapy in Raleigh and Chapel Hill locations.

Ketamine Infusion Procedure

Ketamine infusion is an outpatient procedure that takes approximately two hours. There is an initial evaluation to determine if Ketamine is appropriate for you and the dose, number and frequency of treatments that may work best for you.

Ketamine therapy is provided via IV infusion in a comfortable and safe environment. Intravenous administration is the gold standard for ketamine therapy and is supported by clinical research as superior for patient care.

An expert physician, trained in ketamine administration, monitors you during and after your ketamine therapy treatment. In addition, Avance Psychiatry promotes behavioral therapy as an integral ingredient in our ketamine therapy protocol. Patients attest that therapy is helpful and reassuring, and it bolsters clinical impact.
