Diagnostic Formulation
A comprehensive evaluation for appropriate treatment planning.
Psychiatric disorders are often complex with overlapping symptoms and patients can have more than one diagnosis. Establishing a solid diagnostic formulation is the cornerstone for appropriate treatment planning. This can take more than one visit and include collateral information from family members and neuropsychological testing. A multidisciplinary team of skilled providers will work with you to arrive at an accurate diagnostic formulation.
The Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation:
- Psychiatric Interview
- Research-Based Rating Scales
- Neuropsychological Testing
- Laboratory Tests
- Referrals for Specialized Tests e.g. MRI, EEG, Sleep Study
- Consultation: Consulting with members of an integrated health care team, including social workers, psychologists, and primary care providers.
Treatment Planning:
Once a diagnosis is made, family involvement and active participation in treatment are very important for any person with a mental health disorder. Our psychiatric providers address questions and provide reassurance by working with patients to establish long-term and short-term treatment goals.
