Rebecca Hicks, DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Avance Psychiatry in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Carleton College in Minnesota and later completed an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis, Missouri. She went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Rebecca spent five years as a registered nurse working in inpatient eating disorder units, crisis stabilization, and behavioral emergency response, where she developed a deep passion for mental health care. During that time she cared for the entire lifespan from pediatric to geriatric. Rebecca has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including eating disorders, mood disorders, health anxiety, cognitive disorders, ADHD, and PTSD. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, collaborative care that empowers patients across the lifespan to achieve their mental health goals.
Rebecca lives with her husband, who is pursuing a PhD in neuroscience, and their toddler, who is enthusiastically working toward a dual degree in bike riding and coloring. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading, and kayaking.
